Day 363 and Day 364

It was a quiet day really for us, the boys played on their new Wii game most of the time really. But we did make them play their new "real" games too. Robert got Jenga for Xmas which we all really enjoyed playing. And surprisingly even though Robert fidgets (a lot) he didn't knock it over by fidgeting! Here they are looking for the best brick to move!At 5pm we took the boys to Florian's sister! We had an airbed, their bedding, their teddies, the dreamstones, washbag, snowsuits, slippers, just about everything but the kitchen sink with us, so they were well prepared! And they were soooo excited.
They went in, shoes off and straight upstairs with the girls, they did come down and say goodbye though when we left.

We went straight into town, parked in the "free" car park (I have a ticket cause of work) and then were walking to the cinema across town. We were originally going to have a meal at the Chinese at the cinema, but when we passed the Mexican restaurant near the car park, we changed our minds. Our meal was delicious. I was going to take a picture of it, but I forgot when it came, and when I had finished it didn't look quite as delicious, if you know what I mean.
The restaurant is directly opposite the palace, and when we came out, I tried out one of the programmes on my new camera "night shot hand held" - and wow, came out really good!The film was good, we saw "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1", now we just have to wait with everyone else for Part 2 to be released in the summer!
It was strange not having the boys at home when we got home, but we soon got used to it!

On the way home I tried out the nightshot setting again on these guys, they are in the next village along at the side of the road too cute!And here they are in the daylight too! (Cause I like them!)

Day 364
You'd think with the boys away we would have a lay in, but no we decided shopping without the boys would be a good idea, so before setting off for breakfast at the bakers with Sabine, Katrin and Florian's sister, we headed to Aldi. We got our fireworks for tomorrow night (we are going to Florian's sisters for Raclette) and some bits to eat for the weekend. We shouldn't go hungry. Then it was time for the bakers. Here we all are tucking in.Back home the boys were really tired so we watched a film with them "Robots", they really like that one, but unfortunately it didn't record properly so they missed the last 10 minutes, shame!

At 6pm I put the boys in the bath, changed their clock, so they thought it was 7pm and then put them to bed, and when we go to bed, I will be changing their clock again, so that 7am is really 8am in the morning. Got to get them to catch up on their sleeps somehow!

I hope everyone sees the New Year in in style tomorrow, and I'll see you here again on New Years Day (with two seperate posts, so that one year doesn't run into the other!)

Christmas (Day 359, Day 360, Day 361 and Day 362)

I'm back from my Christmas blogging holidays! We had a super Christmas even if some of it didn't go according to plan, but from the beginning!

Christmas Day (Day 359)
Santa was really really good to all of us, the boys were as excited as always and Robert opened his presents in record time, whereas Richard took his time, which led Richard to believe that he had more presents than Robert! Too cute!
This is the lounge when Zoe and Mia got there and were unpacking their presents and Robert and Richard had already built half of theirs up!And guess what, that picture was taken with MY new camera! Florian got me a new pocket camera (an Canon IXUS 1000 HS), so that when I want to have videos taken he doesn't have to bring the camera from work with him!! It is great fun and I am such a lucky girl.
And looking at the picture again, see the kids sacks, well my sack with presents was as big and as full! I'm so lucky!
We also had a special package from Holland, thank you Dinphy! The boys loved their cubes, Florian his cheese, and me my chocolates (with no alcohol!) - thank you for the lovely surprise!

This is Christmas lunch - thank you Mum for another DELICIOUS Christmas dinner, and for not cooking all the brussels! (last year I had all of mine and everyone who doesn't like them's brussels on my plate - too many) this year was much better brussel-wise!

Oh and here are the boys on Christmas day/Boxing day with their favourite Christmas presentsRichard is MY boy, he has already taken over 600 pictures with his camera, and he has taken some great ones too!

Boxing Day (Day 360)
BOTHER BOTHER BOTHER - was what we all thought when we got up in the morning, it had snowed much too much in the night, and we were expecting Florians sister to join us here. It didn't happen! Where we were had had about 15 cm, but where they were had had double that, nothing had been cleared and it was just too dangerous to come all that way. Shame, as everyone was looking forward to it. But we couldn't change it.

We all went to the restaurant as planned, but Mum phoned and let them know that there would be 5 less of us, and we think they were successful in "selling" the places!
This is Zoe and Robert in the restaurant still having fun with the Xmas pressies!After lunch we went back to Lee's for the rest of the day. We played the flour game with the kids, poor Zoe and Mia had to get the penny out!

At bedtime Robert was so overtired that he had a bit of a paddy...enough said!

Day 361 (Monday)
No more snow this morning, but the town is all out of salt so the roads at Mum and Dads are bad, but we took it nice and carefully and came back home, without a hitch, that was until we got into our road...wow we had had a lot of snow, and there was no way we could get into our drive, so we parked at a neighbours, let the boys play on the Wii and set about clearing a way in to the garage! A different sort of ending to Xmas!

The rest of the day we spent in the lounge with the log fire on and the boys playing their new Wii game!

Day 362 (Tuesday)
This morning we all met up at 10.30 to go sledging. Florian's sister phoned at 10.15 that they would be coming too, but would be a bit later...they did make it buy it was over an hour later! hihi!
This is the boys before their first ride down the hill! It was good fun to watch, I didn't go down this time, the course was a bit faster today and I didn't fancy that, but everyone else went down - even Florian!

After sledging Florians sister and family came back to us and we all had an improvised lunch together, and the girls got to try out the boys new Wii game!
Speaking of the girls, they LOVED the tops that we got them for Xmas and two of the three were actually wearing them today! hihi, that makes me smile!

Phew that was a long post, but I am all caught up now! Blogging is back to normal, well maybe - guess what - tomorrow the boys are having a sleepover at Florian's sister's and we are going to the cinema to see "Harry Potter"!

Day 357 and Day 358

I was so busy being Santa's Little Helper last night that I forgot to blog! but at least all the presents are now wrapped, and none to do last minute!
So yesterday, for starters no new snow, so no sweeping, it was very icy though, so Florian cleared some of that away before going and doing some last minute shopping. The wire to the chickens door has broken so we needed a new wire, so that they can come out if they want to. Although with all this snow, they don't really want to come out!

The boys did a lot of playing on the Wii, but when I came in and found Richard about to punch Robert with the Wii remote I decided it was time to stop! We then did painting! And just in time too, this is Robert painting his Xmas decorations for on the Xmas tree!
I spent the evening wrapping Xmas presents, oh I already mentioned that, didn't I!

Day 358 (Christmas Eve)
The weather forecast for today was very bad, ice rain in the morning followed by snow, so we set off for Mum and Dad's in the morning. We had plenty of biscuits with us, incase we got stuck on in snow or ice on the way, but we were fine, we made it to Mum and Dad's in the same time as always!
The boys are so excited about Santa coming tomorrow, they put together his plate of goodies, and then we put them in the hall for Santa and Rudolph, then they couldn't really wait to get to bed and sleep, so that Santa can come. Just one problem, Robert is now asking for something that wasn't on his list, hopefully what Santa does bring him, will be OK too!

And this evening whilst we have been relaxing before the busy day tomorrow, Florian made a new friendElvis has been sat with Florian all evening and if Florian ignores him for too long, he makes himself known! It's so cute!!

Day 356

At last! We got up this morning and no more snow! No sweeping! We did have to put some grit down as the path was now really icy, the snow keeps melting a little bit and then freezing again!
Mmh not good either, but I was just grateful that there was no new snow!

We went into town this morning for some last minute Xmas shopping (got Richard's birthday present already too!) and we also went to the Xmas market for one last crepe before it closes tomorrow! Here are the boys enjoying theirs. Robert dropped his shortly after this was taken, so I gave him half of mine instead!In the afternoon Florian's sister brought her girls round and we babysat them, whilst they went to do their last minute Xmas shopping! It was the first time in years that they had had that luxury. I think they enjoyed it! The boys certainly enjoyed having their cousins here! So much so, that Robert at bedtime wanted to know when they will see them again!

Well there is no snow forecast until Xmas Eve so with a bit of luck, we can get up and not sweep again tomorrow - fingers crossed!

Day 355

OK, its not funny anymore, ...yep you've guessed it, MORE snow this morning! Florian started clearing it with Robert whilst I took Richard to Kindergarden (his last day this year!) and by the time I got back he was just finishing up, sometimes it is a good thing, when you talk to all the neighbours on the way!

I made one of my Xmas presents in the morning. I saw some "cookies in a jar" on a scrapbooking site a while back and thought that it looked like a great present for my brothers MIL, so I bought some jam jars and made my own labels and as I know that she doesn't have internet, I can show you hereCredits:

Both jars have a label, and I am going to look to see if I have a matching ribbon for the jars before I wrap them up. The only other problem is, the recipe I chose if for a bigger jam jar, so I had to use two jam jars. In the summer, when jam jars are more readily available I will be stocking up, as this is a simple but fun gift to give! I actually made up two sets today and gave one away at the birthday party we went to this afternoon!

Florian has just looked out the window at the weather and it is NOT snowing, no its raining, oh dear, tomorrow we may be hacking at the ice rather than shovelling snow, YUCK!

Day 354

Well this is what I was woken up to this morning!We have all been singing "all I want for Xmas is my two front teeth" to him today, even Richard. Who this afternoon even said to Robert "If you had lost them in summer we could have sung "all I want for my birthday is my two front teeth!"
Robert is a good sport about it though and this time there were no tears when it fell out. I just have to remind the tooth fairy to put the money under his pillow in a minute!

We went shopping this morning. Florian and Robert (Richard was at Kindergarden) took a Xmas present to the post office, not sure it is going to get there on time...oops! Whilst they were there, I was at C&A getting our nieces their Xmas presents. I got what I think are three really cute tops, but they have 4 weeks to return them should they not agree with me.
On the way to the till I walked past 2 nice jumpers and after trying them on, I have two new jumpers too!

This afternoon Florian had to go out again, as I forgot to buy any bread this morning, he took the boys with him, dropped them off at his sisters and then went shopping! The boys had a GREAT time with their cousins. And I was at home working on a translation for work in peace!

I wasn't going to mention the weather, but yep, we did have to sweep more snow this morning, but it was more difficult than before, it melted a bit in the night but froze again this morning! So far though there has been no new snow here, fingers xed!

Day 353

So much for hoping for no more snow....a good 15cm this morning when we got up, but Florian did the sweeping out the front today. After breakfast I went out the back and cleared a way to the chickens and fed them and the rabbit, then I cleared a path across our terrace to the patio doors of the lounge, to bring in our christmas tree. That took some clearing as it hadn't been cleared at all since the snow started falling, so in places there was a good 60cm of snow!
But I got it cleared, Florian carried the tree in, and we all decorated it after lunch! Here are some pictures!

About then it started snowing again, and now you can no longer see that I had cleared a path across the terrace! So more snow shovelling in the morning! Day 352

Total change of plans this morning when we got up! So much more snow and still snowing. We didn't think we would even get to the woods to get our tree, let alone get to a birthday party 120km away! We had to cancel my SIL birthday party, such as shame it was a big one too (40! in about 30minutes).

To start with we cancelled the tree chopping date we had with our neighbours (Xmas tree that is) but then we changed our minds, deciding that this year we would just choose a beautiful already chopped tree, as wading through waist deep snow to find a tree just wasn't a good idea!
Well this is the tree we chose and tomorrow I should have a picture of the finished decorated project!So instead of travelling this afternoon we watched the snow continue until about 5pm, played UNO with the boys, and then we all sat down and watched "Horton hears a Who!" an animated Dr. Seuss story. It was really good, the boys laughed from the first minute until the end. It was so cute to watch them.

This evening I helped Santa by wrapping lots and lots of presents up!
And now we are watching 24 again!

Day 350 and Day 351

Whoops, I forgot to blog yesterday, well I did remember, but by then the computer was already turning itself off, so I decided to wait until today to blog!

So yesterday Robert had no school, cause of the radiators not working. Richard did go to Kindergarden though, but I cancelled my English lessons there. With my cough, doing too much talking is NOT a good idea. And there I would have even had to raise my voice a couple of times, and that is even less good! Shame, but I can still use my ideas next year!

After dropping Richard off at Kindergarden Robert and I went shopping. The weathermen were forecasting a snowstorm from lunchtime on, so I wanted to make sure we had enough food in. That and the fact that we had already run out of apple juice!

In the afternoon the boys had football training, it was just starting to snow when we made our way there, and by the time we came back home there was already 3-5 cm of snow on the paths. I went and put our dustbin out for the morning and very quickly swept the paths (the snow was still loose enough to do so quickly).
But looking at this picture taken on my way to bed, you can't actually tell that I did that, so it was really a waste of time! (There is a path there somewhere!)Oh in the afternoon whilst the boys were upstairs playing lego, I made some stars for in our windows!And I nearly forgot, after football, we had a phonecall on the answer machine, saying that because of the snow there was no school on Friday. When I started calling the other Mums, they were saying, that no, there was school. Eventually we decided not to carry on phoning everyone, and I decided, that I wouldn't be sending Robert to school. He has been off school all week with earache, one more day wouldn't harm him. Plus today was the last day of school and they only have 3 lessons anyways and 2 of those would have been a church service. No need to brave the snow really!

Well when we got up and downstairs, it was a quick breakfast for all of us, a phone call to Kindergarden, cause Richard wanted to stay home too, and then out into the snow for a LOT of sweeping. We had had 40cm of snow in the night, and because of the bins, the friendly neighbour with the little snowplough, hadn't been able to do our path, and I had that to do too! Bother!
I was out there for 2 hours working solid all the time and I didn't really manage to finish, but I can hardly move now, so it feels like I finished. Here some pics of the snow!
This afternoon the boys got to watch the Xmas Special of Curious George, and then we played UNO waiting for the Cbeebies Xmas Pantomime to start. They really joined in the pantomime this year, so cute to watch.

I am now waiting for Florian to get home, he had to work longer today as it was his last day this year, and so he is on the later train which was about 30 minutes late leaving, so if there is no more delay he should be home about 11pm.

Day 349

My medicine is starting to work, which would be a good thing, except that now I am coughing even more, cause it is clearing my lungs...oh well, it also means I am on the mend so I'll grin and bear it!
Robert too seems to be on the mend, the way he was playing on the wii this afternoon certainly said so!

In the morning we played school! Well Robert did his homework. He really enjoyed it today too, he had to read some sentences, understand them and then do as they said. For example it said (in German obviously): "Alo is painting tomatos" (Alo malt Tomaten) and underneath was a picture of a little boy in front of an empty canvas with a paint brush. So Robert had to "paint" the tomatoes for him! It was GREAT homework, and it was lovely to see him realising what opportunities reading opens! He's not fighting me about it anymore!

In the late afternoon I got a different sort of phone call - Robert's teacher called, but not about homework or anything, nope, the heating at school is broken and there will be NO SCHOOL tomorrow! Why did something like that never happen when I went to school!!
So if I was wondering whether to send Robert back to school tomorrow, the decision has been taken out of my hands!

And speaking of the heating, look at mine!!It is 28°C in my lounge right now, very very cosy. Especially as it is snowing again outside!

Day 348

Well today was different than planned. Robert still had a bit of a temperature and earache this morning, so off we went to the doctors. His ears are still only red so there is a chance that we can heal it without antibiotics, he has to blow his nose more and clear the passageway to his ear, he can sniff it up too if he wants too, he just must not just leave it there like he has been doing. The doctor explained it all to him comparing it to a full sink that wants to overflow into his ear, but it can't cause there is a wall, and that makes it hurt.
When we got home and I asked him to blow his nose he has never done so well! Maybe there is hope. Tomorrow he has to stay home from school too. but we have his homework, so we will be playing school in the morning!

I got some cough medicine for my bronchitis, so we are all on the mend again!

This afternoon the boys played on the Wii for a bit and Richard at one point came over to me and said "Mummy, we have to change my Wii Mii, cause I've got glasses now!" Isn't that cute! It certainly shows that he identifies with his glasses - bless him! And now he has an all new Wii Mii with glasses (blue ones!)

After the Wii, the boys built up our crib for us. They had a great time doing it as you can see here.
I then read them a book on the nativity told from the donkey's point of view, I think they enjoyed it. And then they got to watch a film - Disney's "The Wild". Very much like Madagascar but they enjoyed it. I just thought it funny to hear Kiefer Sutherland be a lion after watching him on 24!

At teatime we had unexpected visitors, Sabine had gone out without her keys and no one was home to let her in, so they stayed here for a while, the girls had tea with the boys and thought it was great. Sabine didn't want anything, she thought a cup of cappucino was disagreeing with her, but since then her husband has been round for some medicine against throwing up, so I think it was more than the coffee. Poor thing, hopefully the medicine works!

Day 347

Robert had earache in the night, but I dosed him up this morning and sent him off to school, cause today they were going to the theatre. As far as I could gather they saw "Little Red Riding Hood" but he wasn't really forthcoming with any information other than it was "good"! And so far no nightmares so the wolf was probably not scary!!

Florian and I went to Media Markt and look what I gotnow when I am typing I am not as noisy as before! Mum you can come again and my typing won't disturb when watching TV! hihi!

This afternoon we all went into town to get Florian's train ticket for 2011 and once we had done that, we went to the Xmas market and had a crepe each! Delicious!

This eveing we configured our new car (yep, we have to order AGAIN) and this time we have chosen a Meriva in Aquamarine - a so-called "Kerri Colour" - nice and bright and cheerful! We have ordered it online for the first time, so it will be interesting to see if it works! Fingers crossed!

Day 346

Sent Florian off with the boys to their football tournament this morning, and I got busy working - yep real work - translating. Florian has the day off tomorrow and I want to spend it with him rather than sat at work, so I got that out of the way today!

The boys enjoyed their football, they didn't win though, they came in 6th out of 8.

When they got back it was straight back out again to Sabine's birthday party. It was a bbq with a snow bar! Here I am having a nice cup of hot orange juice!This evening Florian's sister came back round to watch the 2nd part of the XFactor final. It was a good evening, Take that were on 3 times!!! and my favourite won the Xfactor!

Day 345

Woohoo, the snow is melting, but look what it did this evening! This was all clear, but half of the snow on the roof came down in a big crash, took the light almost off the wall and left this huge pile on the steps! Oops!But what else was up today, not much really, we had a quiet day in, the boys played on the Wii in the morning and in the afternoon we played games, I played UNO with them and Florian later played Ludo with them.

This evening Florians sister popped round to watch English TV with us, so I got to see the XFactor Final, well the first half of it anyways! Second half tomorrow and Florian's sister will be round then too!

Day 344

And I thought we'd had a lot of snow yesterday...I was wrong. Look what we had today! On the first photo you can compare the piles of snow to one of the pictures on Day 342!!
Mum decided that she would go home today and she wouldn't let us take her to the station she took the bus to the station and then got the train. All was OK to start with and then half way there a tree fell over and damaged the cables on the line and she was delayed! Oops. An hours car journey took poor Mum 4.75 hours today! But she's home safe and sound now!

We did have to brave the weather today as this afternoon it was Robert's Xmas party at school.
They sung about 3 or was it 4 songs, did one poem and two plays. They had a good time and all the parents did too! Here is Robert "singing" (he just pretended most of the time!)CU tomorrow

Day 343

Oh dear, that was a LOT of snow that came down last night! Look at the piles all around Richard!
And I did a LOT of walking in this snow, in total I walked to Kindergarden and back 4(!!!) times today! The first time to drop off Richard, then again an hour later for my English lesson, then 90 minutes later to pick Richard up again, and then this afternoon it was football training which is right next to Kindergarden, that makes 5.6km of walking today! Who says I don't do sport!

This afternoon Mum got to walk to Kindergarden once too, to Richards grandparent day. Here he is coming towards her with a present for her and Pop. Mum also got some really cute videos of the kids singing, but there are too many other kids to be able to put it on here!

Well, I never, I just texted Florian to find out if all was OK as he hadn't phoned me, and about 10 minuteslater the doorbell rung - Florian is home for a long weekend! Cool!

Day 342

Library day today, but on my own! Well, with a bit of help, but it was me in charge of turning on the computer and getting it all running smoothly and it worked! Phew cause as of January I am in charge on my Wednesday!
Mum and Dad were making their way to see us too, but the weather was a bit awful down by them, so Dad ended up dropping Mum off at the station in Frankfurt to finish her journey on the train.
We picked her up at the village station, but we won#t be doing that again, it is one big building site (they are putting the Autobahn underneath the village!) and to get from the car park to the station you had to be a mountain climber! And as slippy as the roads are today with the freezing rain, not a good idea! But Mum made it safe and sound.

We then went to our restaurant, where Robert showed Mum just how much he loves his salad! He had a side salad which he finished!
This is one of the poor bushes outside there, the rain was just freezing on impact!Later on we had our last swimming lesson, Richard is nearly there, he just needs to get his bum higher up in the water, so we will have to do lots of swimming in the Xmas holidays, so he gets lots of practise in! On our way back from there at 6pm it started snowing, and now look at our garden and path!! Oh dear! Looks like I will be busy in the morning, but if you look closely at the picture with Santa in it, our friendly neighbour who owns a mini snowplough has already been by once and done the path! I need to get him a bar of chocolate or something to say thank you to him!

Day 341

School this morning, it was Robert's "baking and making day" and there were 7 Mums there helping with the baking side of the day! We were making "Plätzchen" (German Xmas biscuits) and we had 5 different doughs to make them. The kids joined us 10 at a time and rolled out the dough and made biscuits of them. They had a great time! Here is Robert with a friend doing his bit!I let him take it easy in the afternoon as he was complaining about his cough this morning, so I thought it would be a good idea to stay indoors in the hope nothing more develops, I have had enough of poorly kids! So far so good, I hope it stays this way!

At least staying in I got a LOT of washing done - shame there is still more to do!
And even more of a shame is the view from the window, it has snowed at least 5cm this evening, such a shame, as I was really looking forward to Mum and Dad coming up in the morning, now it will probably be just Mum coming - on the train!

Day 340

Nikolaus today! And would you believe it I had to wake the boys up! I couldn't believe it! Over the weekend they were up about 6am, but today when getting up that early would ahve been a good idea, they slept! Anyhow here they are looking to see what Nikolaus brought!
They both got playmobil, it needed to be built up but there was no time for that before kindergarden, school and work! So after lunch I helped them both, unfortunately half way through building Richard's together, I needed the toilet. When I came back, Richard had tried his own luck and got it wrong! it was the right two pieces but fitted in the wrong place, I couldn't prize the pieces apart. So thank you internet, I found playmobil's help line and they are now sending me the two pieces again as quickly as they can! Thank you Playmobil!

This afternoon it was our second from last swimming lesson. Robert was without any rings from the beginning of the lesson and Richard joined him towards the end, and he didn't sink! I'm so proud of him! He did say at teatime "I sank a little bit Mummy, I got water in my mouth" but it was more matter of fact than worrying so I don't think he will have any trouble on Wednesday when we go for our last lesson!

Day 338 and Day 339

Busy weekend this weekend. And yesterday we had overnight guests so no blogging yesterday! So a double dose today!

Yesterday I made my first potatoe soup for lunch, it was delicious! (and so easy to make, I think I'll be doing this one again!) After soup it was time for us to all dress up really warm for some sledging! It was all my friends in the road and us. We had a great time there the kids all linked up their bumslides, looks like great fun, doesn't it!By 3pm though it was getting a bit cold, so we all went home, plus we were expecting visitors around 4ish so better to be home on time!
As it happened our visitors were running late. I had booked a table at "our" restaurant for 5.30pm and had to phone and let them know that we were coming, but had to wait for our visitors to arrive. I think we finally got to the restaurant at 6pm. It was a great evening. We gave my friend and his girlfriend this for their birthdays (we just really wanted to get them to come and visit) and it was GREAT! They stayed the night and guess where we took them this morning! Yep our bakers!
Florian's sister and family joined us there too. Around lunchtime we moved from the bakers out into the cold to the Xmas market for some Glühwein and sausages. Oh and of course a Nutella crepe! Again great fun. The boys got a ride on carouselWolfgang and his girlfriend left before we did, but they had a long drive home. When we left Florian's sister came with us and we all went sledging again!CU tomorrow (swimming tomorrow so probably no more sledging pictures!)
