Day 151

Happy Birthday Florian!Shame I had to work this morning, or did he enjoy the peace and quiet at home.. ;o)

Our friend came round in the afternoon with a birthday cake for him (see picture), we had a lively SMS conversation about it in the morning! It has 41 smarties on it!! hihi!

Also in the afternoon his sister and family arrived for the week, they'll be moving to our area very soon and they are here to look for somewhere to live, etc.

we spent the evening chatting and looking at the houses online. And now we are off to bed, it has been a long day!

Day 150

We visited Mum and Dad for the day again today. Robert was really excited about it, cause he got his birthday present. Well presents actually, he got a walkie talkie, a watch, a pop up ball and a Germany football shirt. And so that Richard didn't feel left out, he got some matchbox cars. Here they are unwrapping their presents.
After lunch, Dad made his car into a bus (he put the seats in the back up, then it seats 7) and off we all went to see Lee play at a music festival in a nearby village. It was great fun to see him play again.
And look at the kids! Robert wants to go again when they play some more rock'n'roll. They started the set off with something that I am sure they started a concert off with 15-20 years ago - I felt really young again!
We were really lucky, the weather held for most of the concert, only in the last two songs, did we have to put the umbrellas up!Look at us "Die Hards"!

Day 149

Happy Birthday Robert! Where did the time go?...but all Mum's know about that!

Robert woke us up at just before 7am this morning, I suppose we were lucky, cause at 5.40am he was up for the toilet!
He insisted yesterday that I had to hide his presents, so he spent a few minutes looking for them - unsuccessfully! I told him in the end, that perhaps some more light would help and look even then he nearly missed them!
He was thrilled to pieces with his presents "Look Mummy, just what I really really wanted!" Phew!
This afternoon he had a birthday party with some of his friends from Kindergarden. They had a great time. First we had cake for them, 3 out of 7 of them tried it! Oh well, too excited maybe. Then they all played on the trampoline together.
And then it was time for Pass the Parcel, but oops someone had pinched it and left some clues where to find it in its place! So off they all went on the treasure hunt. We thought it might take about 45minutes - no chance! the only reason they weren't back after 20minutes was because I had hidden the parcel too well in the field!! So they took 30minutes instead!
Once back we were able to play Pass the Parcel. Then some more jumping on the trampoline! Followed by "Topfschlagen" a German game, where you blindfold one child and the rest hide a pot with some sweeties underneath, then the child has to get down on hands and knees with a wooden spoon and find it with the other kids telling him if they are hot or cold!
By the time we had done all 7 kids, it was time for tea - sausages, noodle salad, green salad, slices of carrot and bell peppers. Again not much was eaten -I bet the year I don't make enough to go around, they will ALL be hungry and eat!
And guess what after tea they jumped on the trampoline some more! By then it was nearly time for them to go home again, but we still had the highlight to come - Feeding the Chickens! Which is just that, we gave all kids a bucket with some food, and now we won't have to feed the chickens til at least Wednesday!!!
We had very happy kids leave here at 6.30pm! And two really happy ones in bed at 7.15pm!

Florian and I are now relaxing watching the Eurovisions Song Contest about all we can handle tonight ;o)

Day 148

This morning we made a quick trip to the shopping centre, we needed a present for "pass the parcel" tomorrow, and some bananas for the b-day cake! We did that, then when back home I grabbed an umbrella (I never normally use one, but...) and went to the hairdressers! I'm young again, no more grey! We forgot to take a picture, so you'll have to wait til tomorrow for that, as it is really late now!

In the afternoon my friends came round with their kids and we had a lovely chat, until someone decided that we needed to plant the plants that were in pots waiting for the rain to stop...and then we all ended up gardening and wow, look what we all got done!!! (it originally looked like the bank you see behind it!!!)
We actually had great fun, and next week we are going to continue and get all our flower beds tidied up, before our big party next weekend!

This evening was spent preparing for Roberts little party tomorrow, making a card, wrapping presents, making the clues for the treasure hunt, wrapping a "pass the parcel"...
tomorrow we bake!
Robert had a bit of a fever when I picked him up from Kindergarden, so I am hoping that it doesn't develop into something...we don't want him to miss his birthday!
OK time for bed now, I'm sure we will be up way too early in the morning!

Day 147

We were up bright and early to get to the doctors early, in the hope we wouldn't have to wait too long! And we were in luck, we got there at 8.30am and we were talking to the doctor by 9am! Unfortunately although he agreed that Robert's tonsils need to come out, the only slot for an operation in June is too close to our trip to the UK, so we now have an appointment for the end of July. We actually now have two appointments for the end of July at two different hospitals, now to make a decision!!

Poor Robert though, now knows what is coming to him, gone are the days, when he just ignored what people around him were talking about. So after leaving the doctors we had to sit down and own up about the operation. We tried to focus on the ice-cream side of things, and that although it would hurt he would be getting medicine to make it not so bad, but it didn't really work to start with. In fact we dropped him off at Kindergarden still crying and clinging to me. But by the time I picked him up, he seemed to have forgotten, and we will keep it that way if we can, until much nearer the time.

This afternoon I took the boys out for a walk, and Richard chose where we were going and even led us there! He wanted to go to what he called the "Kindergarden Wald", which is the bit of woods where they go with Kindergarden once a week, climbing, balancing and enjoying the fresh air. They apparently went there this morning but he couldn't do any climbing cause his protective trousers were still at home. So this afternoon he did all that he hadn't been allowed to do this morning! (I tried my hand at lightening this photo - it was so dark where we were, with rain threatening and the trees blocking all light out)On our way there and back we went past fields full of dandelions, heaven for kids I think!
Look at these two just enjoying being in the midst of it all!We have just finished watching a film "Sherlock Holmes" - not bad, just a bit dark, why do some filmmakers think it all has to be so dark, that you want to switch some sort of lights on for them!

Day 146

Where are the hours disappearing to today? This afternoon I thought it was about 4pm but when I checked my watch it was already 5.30pm! And now it is nearly midnight and I somehow missed the fact!

Today was another busy day, we started out on the phone to a lot of different hospitals trying to find someone who can take out Robert's tonsils quickly, preferably at the beginning of June! Tomorrow morning at 8.30 we have to go and see one doctor and they should be able to squeeze us in sometime in June - fingers crossed. Why June, well in July we will be visiting relatives and having fun! And when we get back Mum can't really babysit as she is going into hospital too! And in August he starts school, so really the sooner the better! We haven't told him yet, the less time he has to worry about it, the better!

Once that appointment was made, we went out and had a look at the "children's travel babysitter" a portable DVD player for the car. But we ordered it online when we got home. We got some money back from the insurance this morning from selling Florian's car, and this will treat the boys to some "on-board entertainment" - but only on really LONG journeys!

Then after that I picked up the boys from Kindergarden it was time for their German lessons at school! They had a good time there, and I did a lot of shopping. Whilst I was in one shop though someone came along and turned the sun off! I came out and it was falling down, and it never really stopped for the rest of the day.
The boys didn't mind though, they have been waiting for a rainy day so they can play on the Wii!
And here they are, playing some game with a sword, they loved it but they got so excited that Florian is holding them back, so that the TV doesn't get harmed!

Off to bed now, seeing as it isn't really as early as I thought!

Day 145

Back to work for me today, my friend and colleague is on a well-earned holiday this week, so it was just me. I did have a lot of work to keep me occupied, but I missed our chat!
Florian is still off sick with his tinnitus, so he and the boys drove me to work before the boys went to Kindergarden - they thought that was great fun, and it was cute to be waving bye bye to them as they drove off for a change!

After work we spent some more time in the garden, making the most of the sunshine before the rain sets in tomorrow (well, that is what our weather forecast says!)
Florian and the boys enjoyed a game or two on the trampoline (I'll admit that this is yesterday's picture but the fun and games were the same today, I just forgot to get another picture)
Another friend brought some more plants for our garden round, so tomorrow we will be tidying up a flower bed to find enough room for them (hope the weather holds)!

Day 144

We had a lovely lazy day today (it's a bank holiday here in Germany today). The weather was on our side, sunshiny and warm. So we got the table, sunshades and such out and made ourselves comfortable out there. We got the boys Water Road out and I have another picture just like last summer, I must compare them another day
We barbecued some of the leftovers from the party yesterday and otherwise just lazed around. Although we did get our birthday invitations sent and Robert's made! Robert chose the kit I used, the elements and where to put them and he is really excited about the result
maybe when I have found some patience somewhere I'll let him make one on his own...(might be a while yet)I have since printed 6 for his friends, and tomorrow he can add their names to them and distribute them at Kindergarden

Day 143

What a lovely day today! The weather, the company, the bbq, just everything about the day - thanks Mum and Dad!

Yep, we spent the day at Mum and Dad's today to celebrate their birthdays which were during the week. We spent all day in the garden (haven't been able to do anything like that for a while), it was great fun.
We took lots of photos so choosing some for here is going to be difficult, here is one of the kids on their little table
And here we have all of us playing silly games with the kids (wheelbarrows)
And I have to show you Richard being a wizard, it was so funny, most of the time he was just dragging the broom behind him, but nearly all the time he was doing funny things with his tongue, we did laugh
It was a great day, the boys slept most of the way home, but hardly surprising after all the fun and games throughout the day!

Day 142

I went to the toyshop this morning to make use of the 20% off of playmobil toys, the offer was only valid today and I expected the shop to be overcrowded, but it wasn't too bad, and when I got there they still had ALL of the products, no big gaps! And this is what Robert will be getting for his birthday
He was eyeing this up, when we were on "holiday", whenever we passed the toyshop he told me he wanted this for his birthday, I hope he remembers that next Saturday!
I also picked up "Operation" (a game), I'm sure he will enjoy that one, and the good thing about it too, he can play it on his own, should I be busy or just not fancy playing!

When I got back the boys and I went in the garden, I got to hang the washing out, with a lot of help from the boys. Actuallly it was quite cute, Richard made his own line and hung up all the socks and pants on it.
After lunch, the boys were upstairs arguing, so after listening to it for a while over the babyphone, I grabbed a book and went outside into the sunshine for a bit of a read. But once they joined me in the garden, I never got around to carrying on...maybe later.

Our next door neighbour and friend joined us in the garden later in the afternoon, not sure she was expecting to go home with what she did, LOTS and LOTS of washing! Our boys were all playing in the mud!! LOTS of it! They were having such a great time, but we did have to stop them splashing in it, otherwise I would have had to redo all the washing I had done during the day!

And after all that we didn't get very many pictures, but Florian just took one of me in my cockpit with my co-pilot!CU tomorrow

Day 141

Well, no phone calls in the night, Robert really did sleep for the whole night at Kindergarden! Richard missed him being in the room with him, he woke me at about 1.30am to ask if the night was over now and to tell me he missed Robert. And I missed Robert - my human alarm clock at 7am! But I still made it to Kindergarden for the breakfast there in time!
It was a nice morning. All the future school kids got a present from Kindergarden and a folder with ALL of the pictures they made at Kindergarden in the past 3 years. It is fun to see how much they have progressed. This is Robert getting his present and folderWhilst Robert and I were having breakfast at Kindergarden, they were having breakfast at "our" baker with some other Mum's and kids from Kindergarden, they too had a good time!

And guess what - the sun finally came out! And we made the most of it in the afternoon. This is the garden when we went out
And this is it after 2 hours! We were very busy! Although I sort of liked the wild flower field we had before! Robert picked me a very cute bunch of daisies before they were all chopped!CU tomorrow

Day 139 and Day 140

Oops, I was so busy yesterday evening chatting to my friend Leigh in America over Skype, that I forgot to blog! So once again two days on one post!
Yesterday the kids went back to Kindergarden, they actually seemed excited to be going and seeing all their friends again. Robert took his snow globe with the lighthouse and his BIG shell to show everyone, and Richard took some of his shells too. I think they had a lot to tell their friends about.

Florian went to the doctors about the ringing in his ears again, and he has to have some more infusions (is that English?) so we are still crossing our fingers, that it goes away this time.
We also had the heating people in in the morning, we are changing all the thermostats on the radiators, so that we can programme them to be on, when we need them on. They had to drain the whole system and it is amazing how quickly the house got cold, then again in this weather not really surprising, it has done nothing but rain since we got home, and it is only 6°C - brrrr!

In the afternoon the boys played lovely in their bedroom finding all their toys again, when they did come down I played Trumps with them, not really a good idea, as they can't really tell themselves if they have the winning card, but they enjoyed themselves!
And in the evening like I said, I had a nice long video chat with Leigh, also showed her my new computer set up!

Today Florian took our car in to be serviced, as next month we get our new one. Mmh, not really a very exciting day, did the washing, fed the chickens - one of them died of old age today, we have been living here for 7.5 years and it was at LEAST that old, so I think it had a very fulfilled life, I don't think many chickens die of old age nowadays!
The boys weren't too bothered, they only wanted to know if we could buy some more so that we have 10! I think that might be a good idea!

This evening was more exciting. Today was Robert's first ever sleepover! Yep, at 7pm I took him to Kindergarden for his party and sleepover with all the children that will be starting school with him. Here we are on our way to there. He was so excited!
Richard wasn't too thrilled about sleeping in their room on his own, poor thing, he probably can't remember that he used to sleep in a room of his own. We gave him one of Robert's teddy bears and he did get to sleep.

I then went out for our bi-monthly get together of the Kindergarden Mums (and Dads) we weren't very many but it was a nice evening, and when we came home, we bumped into Robert and his Kindergarden friends and teachers, they were out on their nighttime walk, with torches, and were just about to shine them into our house! So cute. Of course we got a picture!Robert was pleased to see us, but he did look knackered, I know now that tomorrow I will be writing how grumpy he was in the afternoon, but I think he is having a great time right now!
Next on their agenda was a disco!
Looks like I may be in bed before my son for the first time ever....but most definitely not the last! (at least in a few years time!)

Day 138

We're home! No more waiting for hours for the pictures to upload to the blog, a comfy chair to sit on in the evenings, a purring pussy cat on my lap (or next to me) - it's good to be home! But I'm not complaining about the time we had away, it was a GREAT holiday, and the boys have already asked more than once, when we can do it again!
But more about our travels...and last night...
Well at 11pm last night we started to wake the boys, both were so sound asleep that it took some doing. Robert did finally wake up and assured us, that he really did want to see the lighthouse. And Richard we managed to sort of wake up and ask if he wanted to come or stay in bed..he chose bed!
So only Robert and I went to see the lighthouse lights. We didn't have to go far, and not outside either, so we were back within 10 minutes, and 2 minutes later he was in the land of nod! At 6am this morning (minutes before the alarm clock went off) I was woken to the sound of "Mummy!!!" it was Robert and as I went into their room he burst into tears "You promised we could see the lighthouse, we didn't see the lighthouse" - he must have been sleep-walking the poor thing, he cannot remember a thing, and Richard cried too, cause he wanted to see it! Oh dear! Looks like we will have to go back!

At 6.30am we had breakfast and made some rolls for the journey, and at 7am it was BYE-BYE Kur-home! Our train to the ferry left at 7.15am, no problems there.
The other side of the water though the bus was full and we had to wait for the 2nd bus to come, I got a bit nervous then, as to whether we would get our train, but we made it with not much to spare. Phew!
And here are the boys on the first train trip (Emden to Bremen)
In Bremen we didn't have to rush too much, and from there it was home!

Back home Sunny was there to great us, and my new toy..looks a bit like I now live in the airport control centre, but its fun! And as soon as I have everything off of my "old" laptop it won't look so bad. But isn't it cute that Sunny wanted in on the fun!

Day 137

Our last day on the island and we made the most of it. In the morning, whilst Florian took the boys to inhaling and swimming, I did the packing, then after that the boys had "relaxing" which lasts for half an hour, Florian and I used the break for a trip into the dunes, where Florian took some lovely photos
Then it was the boys turn to do some packing, much to Robert's disgust "packing is boring, Mummy" but when I said we could leave it all here he soon started!
We decided to go out for lunch again and went for a pizza in the pizza place right next to the lighthouse. Richard was quite disappointed that the lighthouse was closed cause he would have loved to go up it a third time!
After lunch the boys wanted to show Florian the "third lighthouse" which is the red and white one further along the beach, so we had a lovely walk there and back.

When we were back the boys joined the Kindergarden outing to the beach to find some "more" shells! (as if they didn't have enough!) then they went back from there to the kindergarden to play some more and be able to say bye-bye to everyone there.
Whilst they were there Florian and I went for a walk around the shops and such. We saw something we thought the boys would like to spend their last pennies on, a lorry with their name on it, but also with a lighthouse and sea side things. So we picked them up at the Kindergarden and took them shopping. Poor Richard looked so worn out with all the walking they had been doing but he plodded along! They love their lorries!

After tea we all went to the "Spiegelsaal", where the comfy chairs are for a good bye round of drinks and to exchange emails and such. The kids all played great together and we chatted til about 9pm so a very late night for the boys, and in a minute we will be waking them up again, so they can see the lighthouse at night before we go home in the morning.

Tomorrow will be a VERY early start our train to the ferry leaves at 7.15am!

Day 136

We had a pretty nice day today even if it didn't go quite to plan! In the morning we went on the beach with our kites, we took our new friends with us, it was a bit windy and chilly but fun!
This is me and the boys just before we got the kites out.
Then after lunch, we took the boys out to a park on the way there we went to book our places for a "Wattwanderung" (a walk in the sticky sand looking for worms and prawns and other things - with a guide), unfortunately it was cancelled. :o( We had been really looking forward to it, it was supposed to be one of the highlights of our trip. We tried to book with a different guide, but his tour didn't include the ride to the right beach and we couldn't get ourselves there on time...
We met our new friends at the lighthouse, which was the next stop on our original plan for the day. The boys wanted to go up again, and the boys new friend didn't want to but his Mum did, so Florian, the boys and my friend went up, whilst I stayed down the bottom with her son. (He did try to go up, but wanted to come back down, once half way up). this is me (blue hat), Robert (red hat) - he was down long before the rest of them! Not that you can probably tell at this size!

After they were all safely back down, we sat for a while in the sun trying to decide what to do with the rest of the afternoon, whilst the kids played. We had one slight accident, where Robert nearly had his tonsils removed with a sword, but nothing that a bit of ice-cream couldn't fix, that decided our plan, so off we went for an ice-cream, crepe and waffle! Delicious!

I have a picture now from last night, we used the babyphone that is supplied, and went to the beach to take a picture of the sunset...And now we are waiting to see if today will give us another one...

Day 135

Today we showed Florian Borkum and the clinic. First the boys took Florian swimming, I grabbed a break, I like swimming but I feel as if I am getting webbed feet with all the swimming I have been doing in the past month, and it was nice to just sit and watch, take photos and read, whilst "my boys" played in the pool!
After that Robert insisted he wanted and ice-cream, so off we went to get one. Showing Florian some of the sights of Borkum on the way, well really only the shopping road, station (he saw that yesterday) and the lighthouse agian.
After our ice-cream we went up the lighthouse - yep, even me! Here is a view of the clinic from the lighthouseThe boys thoroughly enjoyed it (they said at tea-time that they wanted to go up again tomorrow!!), I am pleased I made it, but if they go again tomorrow I will watch from below!

After that we went for lunch at the restaurant I had already chosen, and I am pleased that my dinner tasted as good as the restaurant looked. I had North-sea prawns with pasta in a garlic sauce - delicious.

In the afternoon we went on the beach and flew the kites, the boys did some digging and collected some more shells!
When we got a bit cold on the beach we went into one of the cafés on the promenade and had a hot chocolate, more ice-cream and I had a crepe!
then the boys wanted to go back to "Kur-home" where Daddy took them to the playroom to play and I stayed in the room reading! Finished my book now! (Outlander by Diana Gabaldon)

And whilst I am sat here blogging, Florian has fallen asleep, the air did the same to me in the first few days of being here, but for poor Florian by the time he gets used to it, we will be on our way home!

Day 134

Another busy day for the boys today, swimming followed by relaxing followed by inhaling followed by lunch (it would have been sport but as they can't both go, I told them it wasn't on our plan today!) After lunch we went on the beach and did some digging then at 1pm they went to the Kindergarden to make something - it's a picture of a car and you can open the car doors and see the driver! At 2pm I picked them up and we went for an ice-cream (just a cornet this time, Robert had Chocolate and Richard had a green one - Waldmeister, no idea what that is in English!)
Then 3pm I dropped them off for an outing with the Kindergarden - fun and games around the lighthouse! And I didn't pick them up until 5.15pm! I had a lovely sunny walk in the dunes, it was so peaceful and lovely - very relaxing.
After tea it was time to pick Florian up at the station, but as the boys had to tell everyone about it on our way there, we never made it right to the station, we found him coming towards us at the lighthouse. The boys were so excited to see him (me too!) it was lovely!
We took his bags back to our room, and then we took him to the beach! The boys thought it was brilliant to go out again after tea.

Day 133

It's Father's Day in Germany today - so Florian, Dad - Happy Father's Day. It is also a bank holiday so we were all responsible for our own entertainment again. In the morning the boys played with their new friend in his room (and I chatted to mine), then at 10am we went for a walk in the cold fresh air. We went to the beach and then to the station to see the train. And by then it was time to head back for lunch.

In the afternoon we all set out for a puppet show, as we got to the lighthouse the boys were excited to see an ambulance there, but even more excited when the helicopter landed there too
It would have been better had it just been a practise landing but they actually left with a patient, I'm hoping it was just a case of getting whoever to the mainland.

The kids really enjoyed the puppet show, even wanted to see it agian...too cute.
After the puppet show we all went for another ice-cream, only I didn't take pictures this time!
And after that we still had 1.5 hours to kill before teatime, so we again went to see the trains, and then to a park, where we let them run wild. Hoping to wear them out for bedtime!

Day 132

The day started really early today, with Robert up at 6am (or before), and all because he wanted to see his newest snowglobe shine in the dark, grrrr! I hadn't realised just how early it was, cause I couldn't wake myself up enough to look at the clock, I finally looked at 6.15am, by then I was really too late to chase them back to bed, even more so, as they were already half dressed! Tomorrow morning I will be checking the clock the instant I hear movement!

We didn't have much on our programme today which really was a shame, as it poured ALL morning and most of the afternoon! So this morning we went swimming and then I took them to the Kindergarden, and I went back to our room and read my book!

After lunch I had decided we would be going to the indoor playground. This time I checked the opening times, and was sure that we would be OK going after lunch, it said it's opening times were 10am - 5pm! Of course they were wrong, we got there at 12.40, to see a sign, that due to some sort of circumstances, it would be closed in the coming weeks from 1pm to 1.30pm! Not worth getting out of our wet clothes and going in before then, so I had to find something to do with the boys til 1.30pm and somewhere dry too! Everything seemed to be shut, but we found some seats where we played "I spy.." for a little bit.
At least when we got into the indoor playground, the boys had fun, and i was sat comfy reading! We stayed until just after 4pm.

A pretty uneventful day really, so I am not really sure why I feel so tired...
I took this picture on our way back from the indoor playground (it had finally stopped raining), the look on Robert's face is because he had just spotted the train passing by behind me!

Day 131

Today was our weekly visit to the doctor, both boys are fine, so it was a pretty quick visit really. But she did give us some - for us - good news. At the weekend our doctor had a seminar about the latest research in paediatrics and such, and one of the lectures was about Kawasaki Syndrome. And she was brave enough to ask about our case there, and again another doctor agrees that taking Robert's tonsils out will really help. And that yes there is a connection between the tonsils and Kawasaki, the syndrome could possibly have started in his tonsils and that is why they are still in a bit of trouble. So at some point in the near future, I will be blogging from beside a hospital bed, when he has his tonsils out!

But back to the boys busy day. This morning they had another trip out with the Kindergarden, today it was to a maze in the dunes. Which in reality is the park in the village, they had a good time, although they still haven't really told me what they did there!Whilst they were gone it was time for me to do the washing, not so exciting really!I picked the boys up in time for lunch.

After lunch it was sport for them, but the sort where Richard is allowed to go along too! So no problems there, then I took them to Kindergarden again, they were really excited to be going, as they were going to be making windmills.I picked them up again at 3pm and we went for a walk around the village and the boys went shopping again. Today Robert replaced his snowglobe, and they both bought themselves a seagull. Both gulls make noises (I must be mad) and they had great fun "flying" them on our walk! And a bit of news from home - our new laptop has arrived! I'll be able to tell you more about it next week, when I get to see and play with it too!

Day 130

Today I didn't have to come up with a programme for the boys all day, today we had a programme to follow! First it was inhaling, then we went swimming and then it was time to relax for the boys, which brought us right up to lunch time!
And in the afternoon I had registered them for a walk to some monument (Große Kaap), I called it an "adventure" again and they were all game to go.
I didn't follow them this time, but went on my own little walk around the village. I wanted to see if I could find the restaurant I have chosen for us for Saturday again, and I did. Florian, here is where we will be going to eat, when you are here
Then I stopped in a park and chatted to Mum on the phone, whilst sat in the sun a couple asked if they could sit next to me, I said yes. And then regretted it, as soon as they were sat down, they both lit up their cigarettes - YUCK! So I vacated the bench telling Mum why as I walked past, but they couldn't have cared less...

At just after 5pm I went and picked the boys up again. There had been a slight hiccup, the boys had told the Kindergarden, that they were to come back to the room, when they got back (I had of course said nothing of the sort, but I also hadn't specifically told them that I would pick them up at the Kindergarden. So the Kindergarden let them come and check at the room, and when I wasn't here they went back to the Kindergarden, it didn't seem to have bothered Richard, but Robert was a bit upset. I told them that I had been buying biscuits for them (which I had too), and all was OK again. But for next time (which is tomorrow), I know to spell it out to them.

Oh between lunch and the boys "adventure" we were on the beach, where the boys played with some friends from the Kindergarden, and I chatted to their Mum. The weather was lovely today as again there was no wind, even if we were wrapped up nice and warm, it was a fun afternoon.

Day 129

Happy Mother's Day!
This is what the boys gave me a few days ago, but I have been saving them for myself for today!
No, their feet aren't that tiny, they made them using their fists! Too cute! (they made them in the Kindergarden here).

This morning I had planned a little walk to a different beach, but the boys had other plans, they wanted to go digging with their new spades and their buckets, so we went to the closest bit of beach instead for some digging. I found a seat in one of the tent things on the beach and sat there watching them until the people who own the tents appeared and I got up then as I didn't really want to pay for my half hour in it!
It was also really cold this morning so moving around once I stood up was a good idea, so whilst the boys were still digging I went and looked for even more shells!

We were out in the fresh air for about 2 hours I think. Then it was time for lunch. Robert had a bit of a paddy there. When he was eating his ice cream he kept insisting on showing us all what was in his mouth (yuck) and when I told him for the fourth time to stop doing it, I also told him that if he did it again I would take his ice-cream away! WHY don't kids ever believe you will follow through? Well, he was shell-shocked when his ice-cream disappeared after he showed his mouthful for a fifth time! We left instantly and he spent 20 minutes calming down in his bedroom! Kids!

At 1pm we went out again, we were heading for the indoor playground, I had decided that I didn't really need anymore fresh air, and standing in the cold today. Mmh, bother, the indoor playground was closed....no idea why, all my papers said it was open...
now what I thought, so we started on a walk, luckily the sun came out this afternoon. We ended up near yesterday's lighthouse, I remembered seeing a playground on the beach near there so we headed there. There didn't seem to be a wind there, and it was warm enough to put out a blanket and sit and watch the boys play! Very relaxing.
The boys are trying out the climbing frame here..On our way back we bumped into our new friends, her little boy didn't want to walk any further, but sort of wanted to see the lighthouse, so Robert and Richard showed him the way and oops, he could walk even run again!
We got back from our afternoon out at 5.30pm, just in time for tea! No paddies this time!
After tea the boys had a shower to get all the sand out of all the cracks and creases! And again not a peep from them since being in bed, all this fresh air is wearing us out! :o)

Day 128

Wow, what a day, I'm knackered! And not a peep from the boys since putting them to bed, so I think I wore them out too!
First thing this morning after breakfast we had a discussion about swimming or not swimming and poor Richard lost. We didn't go swimming, instead we went on an "adventure" looking for the red and white striped lighthouse! Not much of an adventure really as it is just straight on along the beach, but the boys loved that I called it that. We took it nice and easy, they played with their bouncy balls along the way, the good thing about them is, they can't lose them as they are strapped to their wrists, the annoying thing about them is, that the boys insist on spinning with them and then they are really dangerous, luckily there weren't too many people around at that time of morning.

And here is what we were looking for, I think I need to go back if we get another sunny day to get a bit better picture!
On our way back we had to go a bit quicker to get back in time for our 11.15am lunch! Still way too early but the food is good so I am not really complaining!

After a break after lunch it was back out into the fresh and slightly chilly air (oh forgot to mention the wind has dropped so it doesn't feel as bad as it has). We went to the station and got tickets for trip on the Historical Steam Engine. We then still had 30mins to wait so we had an ice-cream cone to kill time.

And this is the train we went on, we got on the last carriage which turned out to be the first carriage, and the boys were so excited when the engine back up to us and then hooked up!The trip was about an hour long, so when we got back there was still time before tea. There is a toy shop at the station which so far has been closed whenever we have been there, but today it was open, and they had a great offer on spades, so I bought a spade for the boys, and of course then it was off to the beach to try them out.

Here are the spades and the boys hard at work! When they then needed a toilet that was my cue to go back to our room, and there we played Uno, pairs and dominoes until it was time for tea (30minutes long).

Phew and now I don't think it will be long before I crawl under the covers too!
