Day 180 and Day 181

Day 180 - Saturday

Busy but fun day on Saturday. I got up bright and early to go shopping and get all I needed for the day. On top of my list alcohol-free champagne and alcohol-free beer. We were making a bowl of punch for our Garden party in the afternoon. It was delicious, you can see the bowl of it on the picture! It also had raspberries in it, yummy!

I say garden party but we or I combined it with a Tupperware party. 

And after the Tupperware lady went we carried on the party with a BBQ. It was a lovely day! And we all really enjoyed it, even if the weather turned it into a barn party rather than garden party! Still at least the rain stayed away in the afternoon.

Day 181 - Sunday

Last night when we turned in, we left the barn as it was, cause today Mum, Dad, Zoe and Mia came for the day! And today the sunshine came out, so the kids were able to spend the day outside. We declared the day to be "Cuddle a Chicken Day" as that is what they did all day! 

The floor in the chicken run is now carpeted with food, I won't need to feed them for the rest of the week! And I should think the chickens are a bit stressed too, so I am not expecting any eggs this week either! But the kids had a great time, as you can see!

They did take a break from chicken cuddling, when we took a walk with friends. Mum says it was practice for our holidays! Not long now!

Florian in fact is on his way to England now, but only for a day. His holiday has to wait too!

Day 179

This morning I finished off working on the layout for the newspaper - school is getting three coloured pages in the local newspaper, and I was allowed to do the layout for it. I started last night, and got the text for the pages this morning. Everyone was very happy with it, and it is now off at the printers and should be in the paper on Friday!

At 11am I headed back to school to pick Robert up from his class trip. He wasn't that chatty about it, but I think he had great time. They did an 18km walk yesterday (or so he says) and they got to make bread and pizza. On their way back they got a bit wet, that reminds me I better check the shoes to see if they need some more drying. He had the camera with him and took some pictures. Here are a few.

The boys spent the afternoon catching up on all the arguing they didn't do the past couple of days! Not much fun for me, but I kept myself busy baking. Getting ready for our garden party in the morning!

Day 178

It was a bit strange not having Robert here this morning, but I soon got over that. And Richard being really cheerful certainly helped. After he had gone I went off shopping, I desperately needed chicken food, so there was no postponing it, and I also thought Lidl had Lego on offer, but I missed that, the offer was from Monday and it was so good, that they were completely sold out today!

Once back I was picked up, and off to sport we went! It was hard work, poor Caroline, it was only her 2nd time there, and even us "old girls" were struggling! But afterwards we treated ourselves and went into the spa area. We went in the steam sauna first (loved the sparkly ceiling lights in there), then in the 55°C sauna, then after a shower we tried the whirlpool, and then finished off our morning in the pool. It was heavenly!

This afternoon I kept up the relaxing and went round to my friends for a catch up, whilst Richard was doing his homework there! We all had a good time.

But my picture today is of the postcard we got today. Yep, he only left yesterday but today we got a postcard! Bless him! I love it!

Day 177

So today was the day for Robert, his first class trip. Yep they start early in Germany, Dinphy! He is away from today until Friday, so only two nights, but that is two nights he is not going to be used too. This morning however the anxiety he felt last night, was gone and all that was left was excitement. I took both him and his mate to school to catch the bus. Here a few shots of before they left.

He has a camera with him, but I doubt if he will take any pictures, but I can hope.
Once the bus had left I went to see the headmistress and I am in charge of making a collage for the front page of the local newspaper, and I now have all pictures from the past weekend.

After school, I went to help friends make the boxes for their kids who start school in the summer. It was fun to catch up with them again, we don't see enough of one another anymore. I had to leave when it was time for Richard to come home from school.

Later in the afternoon Richard went to art school on his own, and whilst he was there I went to the mall, but all I got today was a couple of Brezel and rolls for tea. I forgot that I needed to get something to eat for us tomorrow.
Back home I let Richard watch a film before it was his bedtime, and my tactic played off, as he was half an hour later to bed, he didn't find it too hard to fall asleep without Robert being there. Phew!
Its going to be strange only tucking one in, when I go to bed in a minute, but I know Robert is having a great time, I just doubt he'll be asleep yet! ;o)

Day 176

Spent most of the day praying for Ulla, and as far as I know it is helping a tiny weeny bit. Today she was able to breath on her own for a couple of breaths, and that is an improvement to yesterday. Of course she is a LONG LONG way from being better, but it is a ray of hope, that wasn't there yesterday, and I am grabbing at that.

But what did I get up too, first of all, I was at the post office by 8.30am to send off the Ebay parcels. Nobody complained about all the sticky tape I used, and the parcels were cheaper than expected, so all was good there. Then it was off to Kindergarden for my English lesson there. And straight from there I went to the hairdressers. And now I am all young again, and ready for my holidays (not long now!)

Whilst there we were chatting about the class trip the boys are off on tomorrow, and my hairdresser then managed to squeeze in a haircut for Robert before they go! And when Richard came to pick me up there, we managed to convince him to have his hair cut next week! Let's hope he lets her cut a bit more off this time!
As for the rest of the afternoon. First I played Qwirkle with Robert before he went to the hairdressers and then his friends, and then when Robert was gone, I played SpongeBob's Game of Life with Richard.

This evening Robert came down in tears after being in bed for about 45mins. He was worried about missing me, when he is away, I managed to calm him down by showing him where he was going, and promised him, he could take my teddy with him.
I'm sure he'll be fine once he is there, but I understand how daunting it must feel right now for him!

Day 174 and Day 175

Had an earlier night last night, which is why I never blogged, so once again, I am playing catch up!

Day 174 - Sunday
At 9am we were all at the football field for the sports day. Both Robert and Richard had football tournaments with their teams. When we left home the weather looked quite nice, so I had on 3/4 trousers and summer shoes, but by the time we went home, my feet were blocks of ice. It kept coming over really cloudy, then the sun would peek through then it would be cloudy again. And I would say it was more cloudy than sunny. But by the time I went to bed, I was thinking of changing my mind about that - I look like Rudolf, with red cheeks and forehead to go with it! But more about the day.

It was Robert's tournament first and his team came 4th out of 5. Not brilliant, but they still all got a souvenir. Here is Robert picking his up

And here is Richard picking his up, they came 4th out of 4 - last in other words, but really we were all quite proud of them, as they didn't actually lose a game, they drew all of their games!!

We were there until about 3pm, then we went back home and a friend came along and I made her a copy of all of the circus pictures whilst we chatted and caught up.

Day 175 - Monday
School first thing this morning. It was still buzzing with cirucs magic, all the teachers were still so excited about how well it had gone and how much fun it was! Lovely! I was actually there though to pick Robert's guitar up, which we had forgotten there on Saturday, but all is well, I got it back no problem!
From there I went to the doctors, they needed Florian's insurance card, before they do their books on Wednesday. Back home I spent quite a while packing up the boys high chairs into boxes, I sold them both last night  on Ebay. We have had them now for about 8 or 9 years, and they look that way too really, but I still managed to sell both of them and the seat cover for 120 Euros! Gotta love Ebay! Anyhow I had to get them into boxes ready to post in the morning. One was easy but the other needed some creative packing to get it to look like a box! But I succeeded.

In the evening Robert had yet another football game, and as Florian just put it, their training yesterday (i.e. their tournament) paid off, they won their last game of the season 5:2!

Mum came home from hospital today, I saw her on Skype, her eye is very bloodshot, and it made my eyes water, but she has some sight back, so who's complaining. As for my brother's mother in law, we need LOTS AND LOTS of prayers tonight, as it is not looking as good today as yesterday.

Day 173

So last night and first thing this morning, for the first time ever I deleted a part of my blog post. You see I thought Mum might be getting her Ipad in to hospital today and she didn't know about my brother's mother in law being in hospital. I even got Dinphy to repost her comment, which I had already read to Mum. Well Mum proved today that you cannot keep secrets from Mums! She was feeling good (the eye patch is off, and she has a lot more vision than before the OP) and she decided to phone her friend and have a chat. When she didn't pick up the phone, Mum got worried and phoned Dad to get him to go and check on her. That is when Dad came clean and told her, but I think Mum understands, why we kept it from her before her OP! But thank you Dinphy for playing along!

As for the rest of the day, busy as usual but great. First up was a trip to school to drop Robert off for his rehearsal. then at 11 it was time for us to be there for the official part of the school festivities. Luckily for us, I was one of the invited guests, cause all the other Mums of the kids in the choir and "orchestra" didn't get to watch. Robert was amazing. They played "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven, there were guitar players, kids on the recorder and on the piano, and then they all sung to it too - AMAZING!

They also sung some songs that the music teacher had written and composed about the school itself. It was a really fun and interesting official part, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We got a special thank you for helping on the chronic, and when the mayoress gave the school a check, the headmistress promised it to the library to fill the bookshelves - woohoo!

After that we had lunch at school, very delicious a local restaurant was in charge of catering and aside from the usual sausages, they had things like salad, schnitzel and gyros on the menu. I had gyros, it was delicious!
After lunch we chatted a lot with all the other parents there. Some going some coming from the circus, and I didn't hear ONE SINGLE bad thing about the circus, everyone was soooo excited about it all, and the trapeze girls got the biggest mention of all. And Dinphy, yes it was dangerous, and very very scary. I found a picture that might sort of convey it - and then you have to think that these kids only had 3 days training!

The boys wanted to go to the circus again, and as there were still tickets available, they went. So cute, that they wanted to go, and they got to see some more of their friends performing. Whilst they were in the circus, Florian and I were busy selling drinks (yeah, I know I put my name down again for something!) it was actually really good fun. And when the circus had a break, Robert helped us too. Bless!

During our shift, they started taking the circus tent down, and boy did it come down quick. Here a couple of photos of that happening.

And after that we finally made our way home.
It was a great but busy day.
And the news that Mum can see again even if it is blurry, and that my brothers mother in laws vitals are improving made it even better. Keep praying for them.

Day 172

Another one of my busy busy days. First thing I had to take the boys guitars to school, and once there I had to see if they needed my circus tickets, as Nanna and Pop couldn't come. Seems they were very grateful for the tickets, as there was a waiting list. Whilst I was there, the head teacher gave me a copy of the school chronic - I am so proud and so pleased with how it turned out. I hope the other parents love it as much as I do.
From there I went to the town hall and got half of the money for the swimming pool season ticket back. That didn't take too long, so I then popped to Aldi and got milk and some rolls for Florian's breakfast. I dropped that all off at home and then headed in to work. I didn't have much to do there, but at least I made it in for an hour and my parking ticket is now paid for.

This afternoon I had to bake some fairy cakes for the sports day at the weekend (not that we are going to be there tomorrow, but never mind, my cakes will be!). Then it was almost time to get the boys to the circus.

As for the circus, it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. When they all marched in at the beginning, I was so touched by it all, I nearly burst into tears - silly me! But I think knowing so many of the kids it is perhaps different, so what must it have felt like for all the teachers. Anyhow. the circus was brilliant. Our boys were great at the juggling and even though we weren't allowed to use a flash I still got some great pictures.

And at the end of the circus I was grateful that we haven't got girls, as I don't think I would have survived the trapeze act, if it had been my daughter flying up there without a safety harness or net. But the girls were brilliant and landed safely back on the floor in one piece!

We stayed after the show and the boys got a plate to juggle each and some juggling balls, that light up in the dark - we couldn't resist spoiling them!

We eventually got home again at just before 10pm. And just as we were getting in Mum phoned, she was feeling tired, but well. The operation went well, so hopefully the healing will go just as well!

Day 171

Going to start with what is top most on my mind today - Mum! At the beginning of the week, Mum had to go to the optician as she was losing her sight in her left eye. The doctor decided that it was probably a blood clot on the optic nerve. That was really bad news which we were dealing with quietly, and thanking our lucky stars that the clot got caught on the optic nerve and hadn't made its way to the brain and caused a stroke. Today Mum had another appointment at the opticians, and oops, it wasn't a clot on the optic nerve, but a retinal detachment, and she had to go STRAIGHT to the university clinic, without passing go and without collecting 200 pounds. This apparently can be operated (the other couldn't) and she is now in hospital awaiting the surgery in the morning.

As for the rest of the day. This morning I went shopping for my uncle and got him the special offers on brandy and chocolate - Mum has the same shop down there, but the chocolate wasn't on offer there and it was a REALLY good offer.

This afternoon was my sport and today we took another friend along with us, and she will be joining us in future too! She really enjoyed it, and loved the fact, that it only takes an hour! Next week though as the kids are all on a class trip we are going early in the morning and are going to make the most of it, and try out the Sauna, pool and whirlpool together! That will be great fun!

After that I picked Robert up from school, fully remembering that a friend was coming by to pick up a guitar I had here, unfortunately when I saw Heike's car at another friends house, I decided to stop there for some TLC, and totally forgot about the guitar! AGH!!! Thats when I knew I wasn't really functioning properly!

After that it was time for Robert's football game, they lost (again).

Florian is back home though now, he arrived safe and sound just before 10pm. This morning before he left China the boys and I sent him some pictures over the phone. I like this one of my boys and I!

Day 170

Another scorching day today! First up on my agenda was inventory at the school library, but when I got there, out of the 7 Mums only 3 of us were there. So as not all books were back from the kids, we decided to postpone the inventory until after the school holidays. That was fine by me, as I got to go home earlier. I took the opportunity to look into how to get a season ticket to the swimming pool we went to yesterday, and then decided to go and get it. We now have to go to the pool  6 times and from the 7th time on we will be saving money. Let's hope my optimism pays off and the summer holidays give us lots of opportunity to go.

Today was our 1st trip, only 5 more to go! We again went straight after lunch, this time taking another lad from the village whose Mum had to work. It was funny really, before Robert and Richard had even got home from school, he was on the phone saying he had heard we were going and could he come along! I told him it was fine and just to come round when he had finished lunch. I got a call a bit later from his Mum checking that it really was OK!

When we got there "our" tree was taken, by the people that tried to hustle us out from under it yesterday, but there was still plenty of shady spots available, so no problem, I didn't really need them sat on top of us again! So this was my view today! (it didn't stay this empty though!)

Later in the afternoon the boys had an ice-cream, Richard had one called "Smartie ice cream" looks revolting to me, but he loved it!

when Robert went and got his, I got him to get me one too, only I wanted mine in a dish, which he got for me, only he forgot the spoon! I got in a worse mess than the boys trying to lick it out of the dish! Next time, perhaps I will pack my own spoon just in case!

We came home about 6pm and they were all so quiet in the car, they were all absolutely exhausted, I think Robert would have fallen asleep under the shower if I had let him! I havent heard a peep out of them so I think they were asleep again, when their heads touched the pillows.

Day 169

Thought I would blog early this evening before I get hooked on the TV again. So today was the hottest day of the year, and it really was a scorcher. Before it got too hot, I managed to get all three bathrooms cleaned thoroughly and then it was time for my English lesson. We are still on body parts, and they love the new song, so we are going quite well.

After lunch the boys and I made the most of the beautiful sunny hot weather and went to the open air pool. I think it was the only place where the heat was bearable. The boys were in and out of the water all afternoon and I am pretty sure they fell asleep as soon as their heads hit the pillows! My favourite shady spot was free when we got there, and I enjoyed chatting with other mums from the village in the shade! Maybe tomorrow I'll go in the water - yep we are going swimming again tomorrow, have to make the most of the sun, who knows whether it is here to stay!

Day 168

I didn't sleep too well, after the computer refused to save my file as a pdf, cause I knew I had to try and get and done this morning and didn't want to oversleep! But it worked out fine, this morning the computer was playing nice and I got it all saved properly and on a stick in time to get it to school, before lessons started! Phew!

I then headed back home and to my friends, we treated ourselves to a visit to a beautician this morning. It was a free consultation, where she hoped to sell some products. (and I admit I did buy), I have a cleanser and a lip stick, which hopefully will cure my rough lips. It felt great doing it, and it was jsut what the doctor ordered after last night's hard work. Now if the products work as they should I should look 10 years younger pretty soon! We'll see! Sorry Dinphy no before/after pictures from today, didn't think to take them at the time. But we could definitely see an immediate improvement to the skin, it was amazing, unfortunately it wore off again, before I could get a picture!

This afternoon we made the most of the gorgeous summer weather, and were round Heike's chatting and playing. here are all the kids in the water and having an iced chocolate! (I had one too, so yummy!)

Day 164, 165, 166 and 167

Lots of catching up to do, but I have now finally finished the chronik for school and have the evening to myself again! So here goes!

Day 164 -  Thursday
No work today, but that was Ok, I had plenty to do without work! But to be honest I can't really remember what I got up too. But I know I was busy all day.
After lunch, Richard went to my friends to do his homework and I went to sport with another friend. We had a great time. It probably wasn't quite as funny for the trainer, but we giggled our way through our training. He had hurt his arm doing arm wrestling (silly boy) and could not use his right arm and could only show us what to do with the other arm, it made us giggle! When I got back, I realised that I didn't have any petrol left in the car, so I drove into the next village to get some and combined it with a trip to school to pick Robert up. He was really surprised to see me.
When we got back home we did a tiny bit of revision for his maths test in the morning, then it was off to his football game. Richard spent the whole afternoon at my friend's with her girls, he did not want to come to the game with us.
I looked up a couple of times at the game to get a photo, but I spent most of my time there enjoying the warm weather and reading my book.

Once the boys were in bed, though it was time to get busy with the chronik, I was up really late, getting it all in the right format and each page saved separately. A LOT of work!

Day 165 - Friday
After taking the boys guitars to school and discussing more changes to the chronik with the headmistress, it was off to Aldi for me. I was back home by 9am and sat myself straight down at the computer and got busy on the chronik, til it was time for me to pick up the boys from guitar lessons! A busy but productive morning.

In the afternoon, mmh what did we do.. oh yes, Richard and I took Robert to a birthday party and then carried on on a walk around the village. Before returning home. Richard and Robert spent most of the time after school (and before the party) arguing, but as soon as Robert was at the party, Richard wanted him home again! Kids!

Unfortunately there was no football training for him today, severe case of "can't be bothered" on the part of the trainer I think. That also meant I didn't get my walk today, and I quite missed it.

I let the boys stay up a bit later, hoping that Florian would be home, but he got in after I had sent them to bed at 8pm
Poor Florian was exhausted from a week away and when he got in I made him work on the chronic with me, we needed to get it all into one file (after I had spent days sorting it into separate files) to then put it into a pdf file! We finally got to bed at 00.30!

Day 166 - Saturday
Florian had to get out of bed quite early he had a hairdressers appointment, but I had a nice lay in! I think I deserved that! We had a pretty lazy morning. Florian got us rolls for lunch, and then after lunch we had to take Florian to the airport, he was off to China for the week (but he'll be back in time for the circus!) Richard was quite upset by it, and refused to say goodbye, which in turn quite upset Florian.
We went on to spend the rest of the day with Mum and Dad, the boys had a great time in the garden, at one point we found Robert up the apple tree!

And in the evening we went out to the restaurant, where we had a yummy meal - thank you Mum and Dad!

Day 167 - Sunday
Another lay in for me, not sure when the boys got up, but it was probably too early considering the late night they had last night!
After breakfast we went to school! Yep school on a Sunday, we wanted to see and get photos of the circus tent going up. It was really really really impressive to watch. We got there at 11am and they had already done quite a bit of the work, and within 2 hours it was all done, and that includes all the seating and lighting and everything in the tent too! AMAZING. I made a collage of the pictures for the chronik and I will post hat here instead of all the pictures separately

The afternoon was spent arguing - the boys I think were overtired and just couldn't agree on anything! It was a LONG afternoon. And when they continued their fighting after tea, I sent them up to bed early, and told them I would come up in half an hour if I didn't hear them fighting but if I did I would be up earlier and turning the light off! That worked!

Day 163

I have just come in from the garden, and it is such a shame, that no one is here with me, cause I just had a lovely cuddle with my cockerel, he is actually quite soft. I went out to see whether he had made it into the hen house, and was quite pleased when there were no hens outside, but when I checked in the hen house, only the girls were there. I looked all over their run, no cockerel. So then it was off around the garden, I finally found him - in our red currant bush! Thank goodness I went out earlier tonight, I would have never found him in the dark! Silly cockerel!

But now about today. I spent my day at school today. First thing was library, today was the last day for the kids to bring their books back (of course plenty forgot, but they have a week now to get it right!), so we spent most of the morning sorting the books into the right order so that next week we can do the inventory in record time! Here's hoping!
After library we started working on the Chronic for school. It was just as hard work today as it was last night. We took a break for lunch, and had a school dinner. Been a while since I had one of them! And I must say, it was delicious. Unfortunately I had cooked the same yesterday, but it was still good. And the fact, that I hadn't had to make it, made it even better.
After lunch the boys were looked after by the school, and we got back on with our work on the chronic. We were there until 5pm! It's also been a while since I have worked this way for this long! And as a picture today, here the cover of the Chronic.

The boys were really good, they didn't come pestering me at all! We skipped art school today, apart from the fact, that I would never have made it there on time, I don't think the boys would have appreciated going straight to there from school.

Back home we all just looked exhausted, I know I was. I should maybe have done some more work tonight, but I needed a break, and have just been "vegged out in front of the TV" - Florian, thanks for teaching me how to watch the internet on the TV, I was able to catch up on the programme I forgot to record last night!

Day 162

I started the day by cancelling one of the things that should have been happening today to take out some of the stress. So today we DIDN'T go to the opticians for Richards check up, we'll be doing that in the summer holidays - sounds better to me!
Then I got busy with all the other stuff going on. First I organised the birthday present for one of Robert's friends, that involved phoning 4 other Mums - that kept me busy until it was time to go for my English lesson. The kids learnt some more body parts (so we could sing "one finger one thumb keep moving...), played Twister and did some colouring in, I think they enjoyed themselves.
When I got home the drinks man came around to collect, what wasn't drunk at the party and the tables and chairs back up.  By then it was time for Richard to come home and for me to get busy making lunch. Whilst making lunch I was also busy baking bread. I tried something new today - a potatoe bread. It is soooo good. Not an everyday sort of loaf (too much like white bread for me) but very yummy! Especially with the tuna fish dip, I still had leftover from the party! Yummy!

This afternoon I went to visit the drinks man and pay our bill, it wasn't too bad this year, I think the beer and coke being on offer was very convenient! Whilst I was gone the boys were playing in the garden, I got a couple of shots of them playing swingball when I got back!

Then it was time for their football training and my walk - today it really was more of a walk, one of the Dad's came with me again and he didn't seem to be in any sort of hurry so I just enjoyed a lovely stroll with good company.

Tonight was busy though, my friend came round and we started sorting and setting out the chronik - oh dear, we still have a LOT of work to do. We are meeting at school tomorrow to carry on, hopefully we will succeed! Wish us luck.
Now I must get off to bed, otherwise I'll be late for school in the morning!

Day 161

It was a busy day today, but I am proud to say I am completely on top of the washing and ironing this week. Every time the dryer finished, I got on with the ironing! Oh dear this is going to be a boring blog post, with me having done nothing but the above all day!

But as you know my life is never boring, and today it was Robert's turn again, to create a diversion! He had lost one of his pens, and we were looking for it in his school bag, by emptying it. Whilst doing this, I also got to see his folder, where the teachers leave messages for me. And GRRRRR there were not ONE but TWO messages for me. He somehow managed to "forget" both his maths and German homework on Friday...
I didn't know whether to scream or cry - I chose to walk away and let him get on with Friday's and Monday's homework. He was there all afternoon, but something tells me that he won't have learnt. It would help if he wrote down his homework in his homework book, but he forgets to do that too many times! I don't know what to do about it, honestly!
As for his sports trousers that are missing, they remain missing. He did remember to ask the sports teacher (or she reminded him about it) but they weren't in the sports hall! Looks like they are gone for good! Grrrrr!

When he had finished his homework, he hoped that he would be allowed to watch TV or play on the Wii, nope I don't think so, and as I was still busy ironing, he wanted to try his hand at that. So I lowered the board and let him try - he actually enjoyed it, maybe I should let him keep it up!

This evening I went to check on the cockerel, he hadn't been out all day (although I can't blame him, with all the rain we had!), anyways he hadn't come out this evening either, and when I opened the door to check on him, he was snuggled up to his new ladies! Too cute!
